Wey Valley students visit Bournemouth University

Year 10 students from the Wey Valley School attended the recent Higher Education Convention at Bournemouth University.  Universities from all over the country take part in order to give students information about the courses that they offer.

Wey Valley students visited the main convention which also included workshops and subject taster sessions designed to help students consider what Higher Education may have to offer them.  Student Lucas Jones reported about the day ‘I learnt a lot about university courses and life at university’, fellow student Kim De Leon said that it was very useful going to the event, student Archie Rowland agreed with the others adding ‘it was very good and I enjoyed it’

Year 9 students also attended a subject master class at Bournemouth University focusing on Sport.  At the event the students were able to learn new skills, develop their leadership and teamwork skills.

Mary Critchell, 14-19 Manager for The Wey Valley School works closely with Further Education and Higher Education institutions in order to support our students with their future career decisions, with regular visits and events taking place for students in Year 9, 10and 11.  These fantastic opportunities for our students follow the previous award of Aim Higher School in the South West to recognise the excellent support in place for students to achieve their very best, engage in programmes and events and to encourage further participation in higher education.
