The Race for Life

The Race for Life

On Sunday the 31st of May 2015 at 11 o’clock, a number of Wey Valley students participated in the cancer run called ‘The race for Life’. The event was held at Kingston Maurward College where all participants were required to run a total of five miles in pink clothing in aid of cancer research.

Heart radio presented the occasion and guest athletes and speakers from around the country provided motivational sessions to all of the runners.  Many members from our school were involved in the run, including all of the PE Gifted and Talented students. One student, Georgia, explained that the event was “Great fun and was an amazing team effort”. The event raised an amazing £85,000 for the research and that was Dorset alone! Since the event was organised in 1994 they have so far raised £493 million for the cause. It was amazing that our school was part of such a good cause and all students who did not participate were still encouraging and supporting the runners, showing how much team effort Wey Valley has to give.
