School celebrates opening of new Diner

The Wey Valley School in Weymouth marked the opening of their new extended Diner with Head Girl Katie Fellows and Head Boy Sam Chaloner cutting the ribbon at the start of the Autumn term.  The new Diner, which has almost doubled in size follows a successful bid to the Department for Education.

Mr Rob Cole, Finance & Business Manager at Wey Valley said: “the £40,000 bid recognised the support by Wey Valley to younger pupils at St Nicholas & St Laurence Primary School who come over for their lunch and that the previous Diner was too small. The new facilities now offer seating for nearly 300 students.  The school is very grateful for the services of local contractor Phil Sharpe during the Summer holidays – Phil and his team have done a great job in converting and knocking through into the old drama room”.

Sara Adams, Acting Principal added: “we are delighted with the extended Diner, the larger space will only further improve the ambience and enable students to eat and socialise together during breakfast club, morning break and lunch”.

Katie and Sam both agreed that the refurbishment will make a real improvement to break and lunchtime with Katie adding: “the new Dining space is fantastic with ample room for students, especially on rainy days”.
