SUPER OLLIE IMPRESSES AT NATIONALS

Wey Valley student Ollie Sanderson continues to go from strength to strength in his national biathlon pursuits. Ollie, who is in Year 8 at Wey Valley and is part of the school’s Gifted and Talented Sport programme competed at the School’s Biathlon Championships at Crystal Palace in London last month. 

Ollie who had ran a 15 second PB and took a team gold for Dorset Pentathletes in October last year, gained over 2,000 points, guaranteeing his place at Crystal Palace for the School Championships.

At the London event, Ollie managed to improve his personal best in his run by 10 seconds and matching his personal best for his swim time. Entered at 64th in the national event, Ollie finished 28th in the country which was a huge improvement! Ollie said, ‘I really enjoyed the competition and am very pleased with my progress and finishing place’. In April, Ollie was placed 5th in the National Triathlon Championships in Solihull.
