SHOCK HORROR! WEY VALLEY STUDENTS STAR IN SWEENEY TODD

Wey Valley’s Year 9 drama students have delighted parents, teachers and fellow students with an edge-of-the-seat performance of The Sweeney Todd Shock 'n' Roll Show.

The musical play tells the story of two jolly sailors let loose in Victorian London who encounter the dastardly barber and his murderous accomplice Mrs Lovett, pie-maker extraordinaire.

Musical Director, Ed Hintze added “The show - which is a great piece of work by Peter Miller and Randall Lewton - forms a major part of the students’ assessed work for their GCSEs in drama and music.

“They performed to a very high standard, with the chance to shine in a variety of roles such as an inept sorcerer's apprentice, a heroine disguised as a boy, policemen, pickpockets, lunatics and Queen Victoria.

“We now move onto our next performance, Evita!”

Performing Arts teachers and show directors, Steve Bullard and Kerry Pinney, were ably assisted with the technical side of the stage and artwork by Steve Hooper and Alison Moore.

Students involved were: Daniel Bibby, Maggie Ayles, Shannon Parfitt, Mia Herbert, Sasha Semjonova, Amelia Fancy, Emily Janes, Sophie Ridyard, Daniel Ormerod, Dylan Ellis, Isobel Samways, Elizabeth Cavill, Nathan Butler, Stacey Paull, Luke Britton, Jacob Bowyer, Eddie Gibson, Daniel Ormerod, Emily Fraher, Patrick Dixon, Olivia Howes, Molly Simmonds, Robert Heavens, Max Hooper-Greenhill, Ellie Clifford, Samantha Bowman and Chloe Lane.
