Horses for health

Horses for health

With thanks to a generous grant from Sport England and the National Lottery, the Wey Valley School will be starting off the New Year on a new foot (or 4!).

We are very lucky to be working in partnership with Kingston Maurward College Equine Centre to provide our students with the opportunity to learn new skills within the Equine industry.  Not only will our students get taught to ride by top riding instructors, in a state of the art facility, they will also get the chance to learn all about the yard responsibilities that come with owning or looking after a horse, and how to keep the stables and horses clean, fed and happy!

Students will get a 6 week block of riding lessons for beginners and will work alongside some of our more confident students who already ride, who will act as mentors to guide and support those just starting out with any questions and tips.  Students will have a 1 hour session every week which will include 30 minutes riding, to develop their skills and 30 minutes of Yard work, to help develop their knowledge.

A letter will follow shortly with an application for any students interested with this fantastic extra-curricular opportunity.
