Christmas market delights at Cologne visit

A student group from the Wey Valley School visited Cologne in Germany for a Christmas Market trip.  The weekend cultural trip to Germany’s 4th largest city, included visits to the many markets, the world Heritage Cathedral which was built to house the mortal remains of the 3 Kings who visited the Baby Jesus, and also the famous Lindt Chocolate Factory.

Miss Claridge, Trip organiser said ‘it was another successful school trip with many cultural opportunities for our students, sampling local German cuisine and visiting some famous historic landmarks – this was the ninth year that we have taken students to Germany for a market trip’.

Miss Claridge added, ‘Cologne is a beautiful vibrant city and the cultural experience for our students is a key benefit of this trip. The students were excellent ambassadors for the school and were very confident at the markets, taking every opportunity to practice their language skills’.

Highlights of the trip included sampling at the Chocolate Lindt factory, seeing how the famous gold bars of chocolate are made and a visit to the Heritage Cathedral.
