WEY VALLEY students celebrated their great results with a large number achieving As and A*s.

Principal at Wey Valley Phil Thomas said he was delighted as 10 % of students achieved four or more A*s or As. Mr Thomas added that this year's results marked a 9% improvement on last year and were the school's best results on record. Many students have progressed well above their target grades and this is testament to the hard work by students during their time at Wey Valley.

He paid tribute to the students and staff and said the results showed all the hard work they had all put in.

Pass rates for Chesil Partnership students was 66 % of students getting five or more A*-C grades and 58 % of students got five or more A*-C grades including English and maths.

He said: “For us to have maintained that is really pleasing for the borough".

Tom Hemery, 16, from Ringstead got 8 A*s, an A and a B. He is off to Thomas Hardye to do maths, further maths, computer science and physics.  He said:  "I’m very pleased with my results. I'm looking forward to sixth form, it should be good.”

Marnie McCombe, 16, from Lodmoor got 3A*s, 6As and a B. She is going to Budmouth to study biology, chemistry, physics and Spanish. She said: “I’m so happy and glad I can go to sixth form. I never thought I'd get an A in maths. I've never been this happy. I'll be wearing this smile all day."

Lydia Hunt, 16, from Chickerell, got 7As, 3Bs and a pass. She will be going to Weymouth College to study physics, psychology, creative writing and Spanish. "I'm very happy, a lot of hard work went into this but I was not expecting these grades.”

Alex Jolliffe, 16, from Lodmoor got 6As, 4Bs and a C. He will be taking A Levels in biology, chemistry and maths at Budmouth. He said: "I'm really happy."

There were notable successes in many subjects with;

96% of students gaining A* to C in Art and Design,

97% A* to C in Photography,

92% A* to C in Graphic Design,

92% A* to C in Biology,

95% A* to C in Additional Science,

98% A* to C in BTEC Sport,

88% A* to C in Physics,

88% A* to C in Chemistry,

95% A* to C in BTEC Dance,

70% A* to C in Spanish

74* A* to C in English Language

65% A* to C in Mathematics

Mr Thomas added that students achieved GCSE grades in English and Maths above national average and students, parents and staff should be very proud of these fantastic results! Congratulations to all for a great Year 11.
