Business mentorship up and running for students

Business mentorship up and running for students

The Business mentorship programme at the Wey Valley School is firmly up and running for a second year, supporting a number of Year 10 students at the school.   The Mentorship programme which is managed through the Dorset Community Foundation and hosted at the Weymouth school is now into its second year and the school is looking for more mentors as interest and support continues to grow.

Emma Rossi is the Business Mentor Co-ordinator based at Wey Valley.

Emma said, “We have a really good number of business mentors already and we are grateful for their time and expertise to support our students.  The core purpose is to help students understand their personal qualities and their goals and in turn, enable each student to start planning for their future.”

Emma added, “However, we are looking for more mentors to meet with our students on a fortnightly basis as more and more students come on board.  Anyone interested in becoming a Business Mentor can contact me at the school on 01305 817018 or by email at

Ms Sara Adams, Principal at the Wey Valley School added: ‘I would like to thank the Business Volunteers for their support and time with our students. The early feedback from mentors and students has been excellent, which continues the positive theme from last year.   Our students are excited about the future opportunities available to them in the working world and we hope to expand these tremendous opportunities to more and more students in school.’
